FAQ
Frequently asked questions
BookRails gets local businesses named in AI answers and booked in the same conversation, then proves it with revenue receipts. Here is how that works in practice — visibility, booking, privacy, and pricing.
About BookRails
What is BookRails?
BookRails is an AI front door for local businesses. It gets you named when AI assistants answer "who's the best X near me," lets buyers book you inside that same conversation, and proves the results with a receipt trail from citation to revenue.
Which types of businesses does BookRails support?
Launch verticals are nail and hair salons, massage and spas, HVAC, plumbing, dental practices, and restaurants. Each vertical ships with a services taxonomy, typical durations, and sensible deposit defaults.
Which AI engines does BookRails track?
Weekly visibility scans run against ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity, using the buyer questions people in your city actually ask for your category.
Do I need a website to use BookRails?
No. Every business gets a hosted booking page at bookrails.ai/b/your-business with live availability, services, prices, reviews, and FAQs — built to be read by AI assistants and booked by customers.
How do customers book me through an AI assistant?
AI assistants connect to the BookRails booking app (one MCP server listing every business). The assistant searches the catalog, checks your live availability, and books a slot. You get a confirmed booking on your calendar; the customer gets a confirmation.
Does BookRails post anything without my approval?
No. The Action Center drafts Google Business Profile posts, review responses, and local answer pages — nothing publishes until you approve it with one tap.
How fast will AI start naming my business?
There's no guaranteed timeline — AI engines refresh their sources on their own schedules. BookRails does the work that earns citations (structured pages, GBP activity, review responses) and shows you the weekly scan trend so you can see movement, not promises.
How is BookRails different from Angi or Thumbtack?
Lead-gen marketplaces charge per lead and sell the same lead to competitors. BookRails is a flat monthly fee: bookings arrive confirmed on your calendar, and the customer relationship — name, contact, history — is yours.
How is BookRails different from an AI-visibility tracker?
Trackers only watch. BookRails closes the loop: visibility scans, a booking app inside AI assistants, and a receipt trail that ties each booking back to the AI answer that produced it.
Can I take deposits?
Yes. If your booking policy requires a deposit, it's collected on your hosted booking page via Stripe Checkout. Card details never pass through the AI conversation or through BookRails.
Can my agency run BookRails for clients?
Yes — the agency console is white-label: your logo, domain, and colors. You get per-client views of citations, approvals, bookings, and revenue, plus bulk approval and client-ready receipt digests. Pricing is per client seat.
What calendar does BookRails work with?
Google Calendar today: BookRails reads free/busy to find open slots and writes confirmed bookings as events. Additional providers are on the roadmap behind the same integration interface.
Booking through AI assistants
How does booking through ChatGPT or Claude work?
BookRails runs one booking app (an MCP server) that AI assistants connect to, with thousands of local businesses listed inside it. When someone asks for the best salon or plumber nearby, the assistant searches that catalog, checks your live availability, and books a slot — all inside the conversation, confirmed on your calendar.
What data do AI assistants see?
Only what's on your public booking page: services, prices, hours, policies, a reviews summary, and open slots. A customer's name, phone, and email are collected only at the moment they book. Assistants never see your other customers, bookings, or anything private.
How does calendar privacy work?
BookRails reads Google Calendar free/busy to find open slots and writes bookings as new events — assistants never see event titles, attendees, or existing appointment details. Deposits are collected on your hosted page via Stripe Checkout; card details never pass through the AI conversation.
The free audit
Free — what's the catch?
The audit is our demo. If the report is useful, you might want the agent that fixes what it found — that's the paid plan. Either way the report is yours to keep and share.
Do I have to connect anything?
No. The audit works entirely from the outside: a public crawl of your pages plus live questions put to the AI engines. Nothing to install, no analytics access, no OAuth.
Are the results measured or estimated?
Measured. Every cell in the citation matrix is a real query run against a real engine during your audit. If an engine never brings you up, the report says exactly that.
Can I send the report to someone?
Yes — it lives at a link anyone can open. Send it to your team, your agency, or the boss who thinks AI search doesn't matter yet.
Pricing & billing
Why a flat fee?
Lead-gen charges you per lead and keeps the customer. A flat fee means every booking is pure upside — and it's yours.
What counts as a client seat?
One local business under your agency workspace: its scans, drafts, bookings, and receipts.
Can we cancel?
Anytime. No annual lock-in, no offboarding calls. The audit stays free either way.
